What We Believe
Hope sometimes means seeing what a person cannot yet see in themselves.
Dana believes every person should be treated as an individual, and never defined by a diagnosis, a criminal history, or the most difficult chapter of their life.
People know when care is genuine. That is why kindness, compassion, acceptance, and the small things matter so much in our homes.
“We honor the courage it takes to share. We do not compare pain, recovery, or experiences.”

Dana brings 17 years of experience in recovery and recuperative care services, along with lived experience that has deeply shaped the way she approaches this work.
Her lived experience has given her something equally important: an understanding of what it feels like to be in the depths of struggle and desperation, to need hope and another chance, and how powerful it can be when someone still sees the good in you and believes your life can change. Those experiences became the foundation for Patrick’s Foundation.
At the center of Dana’s work is a simple belief: people matter. Every person has their own story, and she believes each person deserves care that fits who they are. She has intentionally created programs and homes that are warm, beautiful, structured, and deeply personal, where people are known by name and treated with dignity.
Her work is grounded in faith, grace, personal responsibility, and lived experience. Dana strives to see people through eyes of love and mercy, and to walk beside them with patience and kindness.

A Letter from Mrs. Dana

Love is what changes people.

Dana Holcomb sitting on a porch step with her two dogs
For more than 17 years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside people through some very hard times. Through all of those years, one thing has become very clear to me: love is what changes people.
Every person has a story. I don’t believe anyone should be defined by their past, by the mistakes they have made, or by one difficult chapter in their life. Every person is valuable, every story matters, and no one is ever beyond hope.
I know what it feels like to get to a place where you just don’t know what to do next, and you can’t see how things are going to get better.
I believe in making room for people to talk about the hard things—the things that are difficult to say out loud. I have learned that the minute you start talking about it, it gets easier.
My faith is a very important part of who I am. My hope and my prayer is that when people walk through our doors, they feel God’s love and they feel accepted.
More than anything, I want people to know that they matter.
My hope is that Patrick’s Foundation becomes more than a place to live—that it’s a place where people find connection, belonging, and the kind of community they may have been missing for a long time.
With love and hope,
Mrs. Dana
Founder & CEO, Patrick’s Foundation
In Their Words

What residents say.

Notes from people who have lived in our homes.
“
Being at Granddaddy’s House was a great experience for me. It really elevated my level of recovery by being able to share and grow with others in a beneficial communal environment. I love all the group meetings they have like the writing groups, the events we put on together, and bonding with other residents by sharing home responsibilities like cooking and having dinners together as a fellowship. I highly recommend this program for others who want to get the most out of their early recovery by allowing themselves to learn and grow with other residents that have a passion for their mental health and spiritual well-being. 10/10.

My name is Kenny Linhares, and my six-month stay at the Coffee House through the Waters of Peace Foundation was an incredible journey of growth and self-discovery. One of the highlights was the Monday writing group. It gave me a safe, welcoming space to express myself and learn. Through this experience, I reflected on my life, recognized my strengths, worked on my weaknesses, and developed a better understanding of who I want to become. I’m grateful for the support and the opportunities I had there. It made a meaningful difference in my life.

I recently completed 90 days of treatment at an inpatient drug rehabilitation program, and when I came out, I honestly had nothing left. I called Ms. Dana at Patrick’s Foundation to see if they had a bed available. She told me they had one left for me. That bed ended up saving my life and changing my life forever. They gave me more than a place to live. Today, I have a relationship with both of my children. I can truly say that I am at peace within myself, and have made lifelong friends such as Dana for which I am eternally grateful.

Resident, Patrick’s Foundation
“
When I first came to Granddaddy’s House, I knew I needed to change my life, but I honestly didn’t know how I was going to do it. The structure of the house helped me through the beginning of my sobriety. One of the most important things I gained was the friendships I made. Being around people who understood my struggles helped me realize I wasn’t facing them alone. I learned that I didn’t have to carry everything by myself and that asking for help was not a weakness. Granddaddy’s House helped me see that change was possible and that it was worth putting in the work for.
Chris R.
Resident, Granddaddy’s House
“
At Coffee’s House I have been welcomed with open arms, showed love and care. I want to thank Dana, Raph, Mike, and Autumn for all the help and support. This program is more than just housing. They help you learn to cook, clean, establish healthy habits, and so much more. Before I came to Coffee’s House I was lost, unorganized, had bad habits and couldn’t be self sufficient. Now, I do daily chores, am going to school, have an income, and most importantly, am clean. The Patrick’s Foundation has changed my life in the best way possible.
Dani B.
Resident, Coffee’s House
“
Going into Patrick’s Foundation was a truly warm welcome. I have attended programs before, but nothing like I felt attending this one. I always knew I had somebody to talk to. I got to share my story without judgement, just pure understanding. I used to be the guy you would see with a bottle of alcohol sitting on a curb with a backpack and a sleeping bag. The guidance and the encouragement I received in Patrick’s Foundation showed me who I can become. I now want to help others with the struggles I went through, to see the grass is greener on this side of recovery.
Michael E.
Resident, Patrick’s Foundation
“
In my 4 months of recuperative care, I got my own place. I’ve been able to start to get new dentures, establish work, and begin to catch up and be responsible for my debt. I’ve been able to continue my business and learn to live with and create friends with people. I have worked the steps of Narcotics Anonymous and am on Step 6. I have matured and come a long ways in Patrick’s Foundation and I hope it continues to serve others the way it has served me.
Brenda C.
Resident, Recuperative Care
“
The Patrick’s Foundation has given me the structure, support, and community I needed to begin a new life in recovery. I am deeply grateful to Dana, Raphael, Mike, Kenny, and Kevin my ECM, for the guidance, patience, encouragement, and support throughout this process. The friendships I have made through Patrick’s Foundation have become an important part of my recovery, showing me that sobriety does not have to be lonely. The Patrick’s Foundation has given me hope, meaningful friendships, and a stronger foundation for life.
Jonathan B.
Resident, Coffee’s House
“
Staying in Patrick’s Foundation has given me the opportunity to build a healthier and more stable life. Being surrounded by people who are working toward the same goal has provided me with support, accountability, and a sense of community. It has helped me develop better routines, learn how to manage responsibilities, and make healthier decisions without relying on drugs or alcohol. Most importantly, I have learned that sobriety is not just about staying away from drugs. It is about becoming a better, honest version of myself and creating a future my kids can be proud of.
Brandon B.
Resident, Patrick’s Foundation
“
Prior to me being here I was in treatment at Crossroads. I was unsure of where or what I was going to do with my life. I was also unemployed. Since moving here, it’s given me the time to self reflect and get my life back together. The stress of paying rent is not present so I have been able to pay some old bills and buy clothes and other things that benefit me daily. I am very stable now with a job and future plans and goals. One of those goals is to finish the HART Program which I am currently attending.
Chris B.
Resident, Patrick’s Foundation
“
The Patrick’s Foundation has given me an opportunity to pursue my goals, have support and resources from peers and program staff, and allowed me to identify my weaknesses and address my struggles with drugs and alcohol. It helped me develop in a positive way and grow from a stronger foundation to maintain my sobriety. I feel others can receive the support and guidance they need here to live a good, healthy and clean life and pursue their goals.
