Our Philosophy

The belief behind everything we do is simple.

People matter, no matter who they are, what they have done, where they have been, or what their life looks like today. Everyone who comes through our door should feel loved, accepted, respected, and genuinely cared for.
Each person who comes to us brings their own history and their own goals. We look for the good in each person who comes to us, and we care about what happens to them next.

“We want the people who come through our doors to know that they matter.”
The Healing Table is the heart of our program. Every Monday and Friday evening, residents sit down together to write, share, and listen to one another.

Individualized Care

Every person is treated as an individual.

Respect begins with listening. We seek to understand each person’s circumstances, identify their strengths, recognize their goals, and adjust support as needs change.
Peer support
We value peer support because connection with someone who has faced similar challenges can provide understanding, credibility, and hope.
Harm reduction
When someone returns to use, our response is not automatically to remove that person and leave them without support. We work with the individual, look at what happened, consider the safety of everyone in the home, and determine what support, accountability, or change is needed.
No bullying
We take bullying very seriously. Residents sign agreements acknowledging those expectations because every person in our homes deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and acceptance.
Care beyond the house
Recuperative care is temporary, but our support doesn’t end when you leave our home. From the beginning, we work with you to plan your next steps. Through Enhanced Care Management, we continue helping you stay connected with care, housing resources, and support after you move out.

Life Skills

We teach instead of assuming.

People come to us with very different life experiences. Many people have never been shown how to cook a meal, make a bed, keep a house clean, shop for groceries, or share daily chores with housemates.
Staff cook alongside residents and provide hands on cooking instruction. Even something as basic as learning how to properly make a bed can be meaningful when nobody has ever taken the time to teach it before.
We take the time to teach. When someone has not learned a skill yet, we show them how.
✓Mandatory chores, taught patiently and hands on

A Day in the Home

What daily life looks like.

Recovery isn’t a single decision. It’s built one day at a time, with structure, support, and people who care.
Alongside the Healing Table, we offer groups within the homes, including women’s and men’s groups and our Change by Choices workshop, which teaches about brain recovery, neuroplasticity, and the development of new neural pathways.
“It is a chance to slow down, eat well, and enjoy each other’s company.”

The Healing Table

A safe place to be honest, vulnerable, and heard.

The Healing Table is our mandatory writing workshop, held twice a week. Residents choose a writing prompt that speaks to their heart, write about it, and then share with the group. It teaches people to listen to one another and to understand that everyone sitting around the table has a story.
We also regularly invite people from the community to share their experience, strength, and hope.
We are willing to talk about difficult things. We create appropriate opportunities to discuss things such as loneliness, loss, suicide, relationships, recovery, fear, choices, and the experiences people sometimes keep hidden.
♥
If you are moved by someone’s words, simply place your hand over your heart.
It says: I hear you. I care. You are not alone. No words are needed.

The First Two Weeks

How the first two weeks work.

For their first two weeks, new residents have closer supervision than they will later in the program. We decide how close with each person.
It depends on where each person is in their recovery when they arrive.
“Boundaries and safety remain essential.”
Already established in recovery
Someone who is already well established in recovery and already attending outside meetings may continue that routine from the start.
Needs more support at first
Someone who needs more containment and support in those first weeks receives closer supervision and a more gradual introduction to outside responsibilities.

Community
We want people to enjoy life again.
Recovery is serious work, and people also need friendship, laughter, exercise, and community to discover what life can look like differently.
Once a month, residents from the homes come together for family-style potlucks, games, and fellowship.
We are faith-based and Christian-centered. Everyone is welcome regardless of their faith or beliefs, and the faith-based groups within the homes are optional.
Questions

Common questions.

These are the questions residents, families, and referral partners ask us most often.
Who can you accept?+
Adults 18 and older who are leaving treatment, a hospital stay, correctional facilities, or homelessness. We talk with each person before they move in to make sure the home is a good fit.
What insurance do you accept?+
We accept Medi-Cal through Partnership HealthPlan. We can check a client’s coverage with you before you send the referral.
Do you handle authorizations?+
Yes. Our team takes care of authorizations directly, so you and your client do not have to.
Is there a cost to the resident?+
For eligible Medi-Cal and Partnership HealthPlan members, there is no out-of-pocket cost for our services.
How quickly will you respond to a referral?+
We aim to respond the same day we receive a referral, and we will tell you right away whether we have a bed available.
Can you support clients with both medical and mental health needs?+
Yes. We work alongside each person’s doctors, counselors, and psychiatric providers, and our case managers keep everyone on the same page.
